About Us:
Sportsman Fish Houses is a small 3 man operation that prides itself on quality and customer satisfaction.
We build all units to order and to your liking so you get exactly what you want, not something that was sitting on a lot. We carry no stock and have very little overhead, so we can pass that savings on to you. I challenge you to find a house of this quality for a more reasonable price.
Tim- is the owner and carpenter and really does most of the work. He started out by building a fish house for an uncle and things have been growing ever since. Tim has built several actual homes as well as a host of sheds and garages, decks and the like. He is a licensed contractor so he knows how to build with quality in mind.
Ed - has worked in the welding and roofing industry as well as many other fields and is currently a full time employee with the Minnesota Army National Guard. I handle sales, working with the frame shop, taking orders, managing the web site as well as help in the building of the shanties.
Together we make a great team and best of all we are all sportsmen. We all hunt, fish, and spend time outdoors, so we know the importance of a good quality shelter.
Frequently asked questions:
Q-Why don't you have other size houses?
A-We started offering the 16' for reasons of weight. Minnesota carries a 3000lbs trailer weight limit before brakes are required. Once you get all your gear in the shanty to include batteries and propane tanks they start to get heavy which defeats the purpose of having a portable wheel house. Our 16’ Deluxe weighs 2340lbs giving you 760lbs for cargo. We have started to offer an 18’ house. We also find that anything smaller then 16' gets too crowded and anything over 18' is just for show and not really practical for the hardened fisherman. Also the oven at our powder coater is only big enough to fit an 18’ trailer.
Q-Can I get other colors beside what you offer?
A-Yes, we will get any color available to us. It would require special ordering which usually carries additional cost.
Q-Will you deliver our finished house?
A-Deliveries are done on a case by case basis but can and have been done. Additional cost would be incurred.
Q-How fast can these be towed?
A-We recommend a maximum of 60 MPH towing, however I have towed them at interstate speeds with out problem.
